MIX & (DON'T) MATCH..

Are you a block colour kind of person or a pattern kind of person? There is no right or wrong answer to this question by the way.. 😉
Much as I like block colours, I love a pattern, including these rather striking diamond trousers.

As a teenager I wore some rather questionable outfits (oh the 1980's), clashing patterns and colours, and it never occurred to me to ask other people's opinions..
Since then, I've tended to wear something patterned with something plain, or a bright colour with a dark colour, but I think my fashion fears are dwindling again as I get older.
Now I'm taking inspiration from celebrities and bloggers who love to mix and not necessarily match..

BLACK & WHITE - MY OWN LOOKS

If you're unsure about clashing patterns, an easy way to start is with black and white patterns.
I love spots, stripes and checks, and they're a great way to try out different patterns together, even using the same pattern, such as dots, but different size of spots.
Patterns don't have to be big and bold, they just have to be different.

BRIGHT COLOURS - MY OWN LOOKS

A really simple way to start clashing colourful patterns is to find a matching colour in each design.
In these photos, I've started with my favourite shorts and picked out the blue and green, then mixing tops that include those colours.
I've gone for very bright colours here, but using pastel toned patterns in the same colour, or sticking to one main colour, like red or blue, is a really easy way to dip your toe into the world of a pattern clash..
