We all have items in our wardrobe that for some reason we can't let go of, but I've got a process for making those decisions 🤔

In my recent blogs about decluttering, I've been offerings tips on how to break down having a clearout into bitesize chunks to make it all less difficult.

Now you should have piles of clothes that, either..

✔️ can go into your wardrobe because they fit and you like them

✔️ they're too small but you love them

✔️ you can't decide

Today we're going to look at the can't decides..

First things first, don't be hard on yourself, if you love it, keep it, but, I have 3 ways for making a final decision..

1) IT'S SENTIMENTAL

I have a pair of jeans I have kept for over 20 years.. Mostly because I was determined to get back into them, but also just because they spark lovely memories.

These jeans are one of the few items I've kept solely because I love them, even though they haven't fit me for a while, but I had decided earlier this year that this year I would let them go if they still didn't fit me.

Today I tried them on and they fit me, hurrah👏

And so, to number two..

2) USE BY DATE

Set yourself a "use by date" for something you haven't worn, or no longer wear.. 👍 I even use this process for clothes that are too small.

Setting a date gives you a goal to wear the item, but obviously has to be season, or occasion, dependent. For example, if you have something for the Summer, keep it until next Summer, but then if you don't wear it, it's time for it to go..

Again, don't be hard on your self, if you're still unsure about keeping it, try number three..

3) THREE STRIKES AND IT'S OUT

If you keep trying things on that fit but you still can't decide, set yourself a new use by date, or a "three strikes" rule.. If you've put it on three times, but still don't wear it, it's time to go..

Time to try some clothes on.. 😊
